"My girlfriend loves it."I don't really see a good excuse for that, wildlife photos may prove nearly impossible. This camera also has the best in camera JPEG processing I've ever seen. Or, you can select all-manual, if you want to set everything yourself. Auto-ISO is on the conservative side, which I would like to have more control over. Lastly, the complaints about battery life are totally valid.

"She swears by it."This is great because my mother likes the viewfinder and I like the LCD. My old SX700 that was serviceable for years finally gave up and failed. "It's solid."5 seconds to wait for auto focus is not going to kill me. Where this Canon S95 really shines though is the video recording oddly enough. Ergonomics count, especially when you get used to Canon's excellent system--wow! Fast shipping and everything packaged nicely. The image I've shared was taken from over 15 feet away with just the optical zoom.

"Quality."So I went to a camera store and tried out both of them. Its small and very comfortable to hold and use, which is great cuz I have small hands. A duck flying by very quickly skimming the water over Lake Washington. The recommended solution is to send in the camera for cleaning. They make it look like I know what I'm doing.
